Position Overview
Simpro is seeking a tech-savy and highly motivated Information Technology (IT) Intern to join our Global IT Operations team. This program offers an immersive, hands-on experience in enterprise IT support, infrastructure operations, and systems administration within a dynamic SaaS technology environment.
Working directly alongside experienced IT engineers and systems administrators, the IT Intern will serve as a crucial first line of technical support, assist in maintaining hardware and software infrastructure, and contribute to enterprise technology initiatives. This role is designed for an aspiring IT professional seeking to bridge academic theory with corporate technology management.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Service Desk Operations
Serve as the initial point of contact for internal employees, delivering Tier 1 technical support via our ticketing system, remote assistance tools, and in-person requests.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, network connectivity, and peripheral issues across macOS and Windows enterprise environments.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolution details in compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Systems Provisioning & Maintenance
Assist with end-user workstation deployment, including image configuration, operating system updates, software installation, and physical workspace setup.
Execute routine system maintenance tasks, patch deployments, and hardware health audits to ensure device reliability and performance standards.
Identity Management & Security
Assist in user identity lifecycle management, including account provisioning, access permissions, password resets, and deprovisioning within Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) / Okta and Google Workspace.
Promote organizational cybersecurity awareness by adhering to enterprise security protocols, monitoring basic endpoint protection alerts, and reporting potential vulnerabilities.
Asset & License Management
Maintain an accurate inventory of corporate hardware assets, software licenses, peripherals, and lifecycle tracking metrics.
Process hardware intake, asset tagging, secure disposal preparation, and log transfers using the enterprise Asset Management System (AMS).
Projects & Technical Documentation
Collaborate on infrastructure projects, system upgrades, cross-functional technology integrations, and process optimization initiatives.
Author, edit, and standardize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), knowledge base articles, and end-user self-service guides.
Qualifications & Competencies
Educational Background
Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an accredited Associate or Bachelor’s degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related technical discipline.
Technical Skills
Core understanding of computer architecture, operating systems (Windows 10/11, macOS), and mobile operating systems (iOS, Android).
Basic knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Wi-Fi architecture, and VLANs.
Familiarity with modern collaboration suites (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace) and basic active directory or cloud identity concepts.
